The 200-mph Road Car
Fifty-six years ago I speculated on the potential for road cars that could reach 200 mph. At that time the possibility was in the wind—because some great car makers were knocking on the door.
In 1966 I was a General Motors p.r. man in New York, with its Overseas Operations Division, when I wrote a “think piece” for Automobile Quarterly. I speculated on the likelihood of a future 200 mph road car, using the pen name Elliot Miles as a cloak for my extracurricular activities. Those are my son’s given names, in reverse.
