Wrestling a Mighty Mercedes From New York to Boston
Around 1953 Tom Mix of Foreign Motors in Boston, Mass. asked me to collect a car at the Manhattan docs and drive it to Boston. It was a trip I vividly remember.
Few cars are more fascinating to the enthusiast than the great Mercedes-Benz SSK models of 1930 and thereafter. They were able to compete successfully against the Grand Prix cars of their time and were virtually supreme in the sports-car world. Had they never been driven a mile, however, they would have remained famous for their exciting and brutally handsome appearance.
